Known for his trademark deep, snarling baritone voice

Original host of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), the Indian adaptation of the British television game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (2000; 2010-2011)

Why he might be annoying:

He had an affair with Bollywood starlet Rekha, while he was still married.
He actually hates the term 'Bollywood' (he prefers the term 'Hindi film industry').
His Meyer Wolfsheim sounds like Wolfman Jack Live from Planet Hollywood.
He hosted a season of Bigg Boss; India's own answer to 'Big Brother.'
His first eight movies were notorious flops. He has acted in close to twenty incomplete or shelved projects.
His nicknames include 'angry young man,' 'the Big B,' and 'the last emperor.'
Although, his favorite title is Vijay, which he had as his character name in over 20 movies.
His fans have accused Ray Romano of ripping off one of his later hairstyles.
He served a stint in Indian Parliament, during which time he was implicated in the infamous Swedish Bofors Gun deal scandal along with Rajiv Gandhi and Britain's Hinduja brothers (although he was later exonerated of all charges).
Western movie audiences remained largely ambivalent towards his career until he figured prominently into the storyline of the Oscar-winning 'Slum Dog Millionaire' movie (even though they used a double instead of the real actor).
He was offended by the impersonal effrontrey of Danny Boyle having his office contact him to ask for the legal release of stills from 'Zanjeer,' causing him to vocally bash the film upon its release in an angry blog (which he later apologized for).
Many questioned whether or not the decision to have him - a Bollywood star - carry the Torch in the last Southwark leg of the opening ceremony of the London Olympics was motivated by tourist-related economic interests (2012).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a confidante of Indira Gandhi (whom he credits with getting him into movies).
He is the most-nominated performer in any major acting category at Filmfare Awards, with 39 nominations overall.
He is one of only two Bollywood stars to have topped Box Office India Top Actors rankings for 16 consecutive years (from 1976 to 1991).
He was voted the 'Sherwoodian of the Century' in a poll of Old Sherwoodians (2000).
He was injured when a stunt punch from Puneet Issar made actual contact during the filming of 'Coolie.'
He is famously judicious in choosing his roles.
Thus, after being courted considerably by Baz Luhrmann, he chose to make his Hollywood debut in a role that was not only small but for which he chose to accept no payment.
Francois Truffaut called him a 'one-man industry.' He has been called the 'Shahenshah [supreme Shah] of Bollywood' and 'Star of the Millennium.'
He has been active with PETA's 'Save the Tigers'/'Free Sunder' campaigns, the TeachAIDS campaign, and several funds for polio research.
He was crowned Superstar of the Millennium, at the Filmfare Awards, and greatest star of stage or screen, in a BBC Your Millennium online poll, beating out the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Sir Laurence Olivier, and Marlon Brando (1999-2000).
He is the most-nominated performer in any major acting category at the Filmfare Awards, with 40 nominations overall (and fifteen wins).
The Government of France honoured him with its highest civilian honour, Knight of the Legion of Honour, for his 'exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond' (2007).
Despite his misgivings towards 'Slum Dog,' it has to be a pretty daunting experience to watch a film where an impoverished kid literally crawls through human excrement just 'to get your autograph.'
His 'Gatsby' appearance lasted all of ten minutes but left such an impression that Warner Bros. seriously pushed him for a Best Supporting Actor nomination in 2013.
