Voice Actor

The Resume

    (November 16, 1916-May 18, 1988)
Birth name is Charles Dawson Butler
Voice of Huckleberry Hound, Snagglepuss, Elroy Jetson, Wally Gator, Cap’n Crunch, and of course Yogi Bear
Author of ‘Scenes for Actors & Voices’

Why he might be annoying:

He described himself as being very shy, inhibited, and withdrawn.
    He was manic depressive.
Joe Barbera regarded him as something of an ‘automaton’ (read, robot).
‘Scenes for Actors & Voices’ was written by him with the creme de la creme in mind, not beginners.

Why he might not be annoying:

He never had any designs on a show business career; he was more interested in being a cartoonist and a writer.
He believed characters were more than just voices.
He and Don Messick were lifelong friends.
Nancy Cartwright is one of his single most successful students.
There was hardly a bad word for his work.
