Why she might be annoying:

    The first letters of each word of her name is ‘Aha’.
    She supported the Muslim Brotherhood during her early years.
    She supported the fatwa against Salman Rushdie.
    She admitted making false excuses when applying for asylum in the Netherlands.
    She called the prophet Muhammad a ‘pervert’ by Western standards.
    She is estranged from her family.
    Many Dutch intellectuals, mostly from the left wing, accused her for making bad perceptions of Muslims in the Netherlands.

    Her father was imprisoned shortly after her birth for opposing Mohamed Siad Barre’s government.
    She was circumcised by her grandmother despite objections by her father.
    She moved to the Netherlands to escape a forced marriage to a distant cousin she had never met before.
    She went to refugee camps near the border between Kenya and Somalia in order to help her relatives there.
    She can speak English, Arabic, Somali, Swahili, Amharic, and Dutch.
    She likes reading because doing so can ‘stretch her imagination’.
    She is popular among feminists and defenders of free speech.
    She received death threats for her beliefs.
    She and Geert Wilders went into hiding right after Theo Van Gogh’s murder.
    It was revealed that her grandfather’s real name was Ali but switched to Magan, so her birth name is not her real name, but her current name is.
    Reader’s Digest nominated her for the ‘European of the Year’ award (January 2006).
