    (May 20, 1927-July 18, 2019)
    Born in Providence, Rhode Island
Birth name was Albert David Hedison, Jr.
Portrayed Captain Lee Crane in the TV series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964-68) and CIA agent Felix Leiter in two James Bond films, ‘Live and Let Die’ (1973) and ‘License to Kill’ (1989)
Appeared in the films ‘The Enemy Below’ (1957), ‘The Fly’ (1958), ‘The Son of Robin Hood’ (1958), ‘The Lost World’ (1960), ‘Marines, Let’s Go’ (1961), ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told’ (1965), ‘ffolkes’ (1980), and ‘The Reality Trap’ (2005)
Appeared on Broadway in ‘A Month in the Country’ (1956)
    Father-in-law of Jodie Foster
He was billed as Al Hedison in his earlier films, but changed his name at the insistence of NBC when he was cast in the short-lived TV series ‘Five Fingers’ (1959).
He turned down a chance to portray Mike Brady in The Brady Bunch, saying ‘After four years of subs and monsters, who needs kids and dogs?’
He disliked most of the movies he appeared in: ‘There's a whole slew of shit I avoid like the plague and when I know they'll be on TV I have a dinner party and invite my friends over so they can't see them.’
He was inspired to become an actor by seeing Tyrone Power in ‘Blood and Sand.’
He studied with Lee Strasburg at the Actors Studio.
He was named one of the ‘most promising’ actors of the 1955-56 season by Theater World.
He said he did not mind people coming up and repeating his ‘Help me, help me!’ plea from ‘The Fly’ to him in a high-pitched voice. (He also once picked up the phone only to hear his friend and Bond co-star Roger Moore squeaking, ‘Help me!’ in his ear.)
