Best known for the songs 'You Don't Know Me,' 'That's All That Matters,' 'Don't the Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time,' 'Fool for Your Love,' 'Talk to Me' and 'Stand By Me'

Why he might be annoying:

He is the cousin of Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis.
Most of his number one hits were covers of older country and pop artists' songs.
His song 'You Don't Know Me' is about him being in love with a woman he never spoke to.
His more popular songs tend to be pop ballads over country songs.
In the 80s, he was quickly overshadowed by other country singers.
His nightclub in Pasadena, Texas was shut down by an out-of-court settlement with Sherwood Cryer, the owner (1990).

Why he might not be annoying:

In the late 70s, he was a country superstar and had 16 number one hits.
At one point in his career, he had six consecutive number one singles.
Before he was a country star, he worked in the construction industry.
He had his own recording label, Astro.
Besides singing, he plays piano.
He was one of the first country stars to open a permanent theater in Branson, Missouri.
