    He was passed over for Veterans Affairs department head in the Trump administration after several veterans groups raised opposition to his candidacy.
    He came under fire during the war crimes trial of Eddie Gallagher after he admitted to lobbying President Trump to pardon Gallagher for months (2019).

    He served in the U.S. military with deployments to Cuba, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
    He received a Masters in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
    He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal during his service in Iraq.
    He has a tattoo on his right forearm that reads 'We the People.'
    He is supportive of veterans' causes and has hosted several specials on Fox giving a platform to combat vets.
