The Resume

    (October 8, 1950- )
Born in New York City, New York
    Mary Jane O'Meara Sanders
Serves as one of her husband's key policy advisers (and has variously served as his Congressional Chief of Staff and Press Secretary)
Wife of Senator and former Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (m. 1988)
Former Academic President of Burlington College (2004 –2011)
Also served as president of Goddard University (1996-1997)

Why she might be annoying:

She dropped out of the University of Tennessee after a year and a half.
She was outspoken in her belief that Presidential primary process was rigged against her husband.
Her husband may have made a 'two for the price of one' gaffe when he joked that he'd like to see her debate former President Bill Clinton.
Her tenure as president of Burlington College was marked by mass overspending which propelled the school into heavy debt.
The announcement that Burlington College was closing couldn't have come at a worse time, as her husband was already struggling with blunted momentum in the primary race against Hillary Clinton.
She shared a heated discussion with Sheriff Joe Arpaio during a tour of his 'tent city jail.' She later characterized him as 'disturbing' (Arpaio's side accused her of seeking a photo-op, Sanders' side accused him of ambushing her).
She was caught in a hot mic moment at one of her husband's political rallies, telling him 'they don't know your name is being put in for the nomination, that's why they're concerned...' leading to speculation that they were planning a coup at the Democratic National Convention (Jul. 25, 2016).

Why she might not be annoying:

She met Bernie Sanders on the night of his Mayoral victory.
Bernie Sanders has called her his 'soul mate' and 'sounding board.'
She was a founding member of the Women's Council & the Film Commission.
She served as the founding Director for the Burlington Youth Office, for ten years.
She became concerned with income inequality at an early age, watching her chronically ill father and the rest of her family struggle to make ends meet.
She personally authored more than 50 pieces of legislation over a period of six years.
Considering the recent revelations regarding the leaked emails of disgraced DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, its clear her claims of a 'rigged process' were vindicated.
Had she and her husband prevailed, they would have been the first interfaith couple in American history to win the White House.
As the wife of one of the 2016 Presidential cycle's two 'insurgent candidates,' she drew inevitable (and unfairly negative) comparisons to the glamorous and much younger Melania Trump.
She never indirectly mocked Hillary for staying with her cheating husband (unlike the wife<21291> <12878>of Clinton's last major rival).
