    He led a largely nocturnal existence, gambling by night and sleeping by day.
    He was divorced twice.
    Prior to his rampage, he was taking the anti-anxiety prescription drug Valium.
    His method of shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel was similar to how Charles Joseph Whitman shot and killed 17 people from tower of the University of Texas at Austin.
    The attack came exactly 11 years (to the day) after Charles Roberts killed five Amish schoolgirls in 2006.
    His rampage surpassed the 2016 Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting as the deadliest mass public shooting in modern US history.
    He graduated from California State University Northridge with a degree in business administration.
    IRS records show he made $5 million to $6 million in profits from a sale of an apartment complex in California in 2015.
    He went on many cruise trips around the world with his girlfriend.
    The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, but there is no evidence he was ever affiliated with them.
    His brother Eric claimed that he had no political or religious affiliations of any kind.
