The Resume

    (January 15, 1969- )
    Born in Santa Clara, California
Won the Main Event at the World Series of Poker (1996)
    Won four WSOP bracelets
Total tournament winnings of $7.6 million

Why he might be annoying:

He took a leave of absence from Caltech to play poker and never returned.
He is known for making oddball prop bets, such as that he could go a year without shaving. (He almost made it, but a death in the family and the subsequent funeral forced him to shave.)
He noted, ‘People think I win a lot more of these proposition bets than I really do.’
After winning the World Series of Poker, he turned down an invitation to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman: ‘I don’t know Letterman. Why would I want to hang out with him on TV?’
He began abusing drugs in his 30s: ‘My mindset was that I would try different drugs just to try them.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of the Montana All-State basketball team.
He won a $10,000 bet by learning to do a standing back flip in only two days. (It helped that his uncle was an acrobat who taught him with a harness in a pool.)
In his most impressive prop bet, he won six figures by breaking 100 four times on a desert golf course in a day using just a five iron, sand wedge, and putter. (Making it more impressive, the person he made the bet with was allowed to choose the day, and picked one on which the temperature hit 120 degrees.)
