Named after a Will Smith song, when he went by the moniker ‘Fresh Prince’

Why Fresh Prince of Bel-Air might be annoying:

Will Smith portrayed a character named Will Smith – what a stretch!
He probably drank a lot of coffee before the taping of each episode.
Two different actresses played Aunt Viv during the show’s run.
It had far too many ‘on a very special Fresh Prince…’ episodes.
Not an episode occurred without Will making fun of Phil’s weight or Carlton’s short stature.
It makes fun of blacks who act ‘white’, such as Hilary who is a 'blonde valley girl' stereotype and Carlton who constantly dances like Tom Jones.
Despite it being a family show, it had Will treating women like objects.
Nia Long, who played Will’s fiancée, played a different character two years before.
Nicky Banks was an infant one season and a five-year-old the next season.
Some say Will Smith’s rapping declined after the end of the series.
It had several episodes where Jay Leno played himself.
Sherman Hemsley played Judge Robertson on a few episodes, but after the character was killed off he made guest appearances as George Jefferson.

Why Fresh Prince of Bel-Air might not be annoying:

It was one of the first sitcoms to introduce hip-hop culture to prime time television.
It had one of the very few TV theme songs that people can rap-along to.
It explored the cultural differences between poor urban blacks and upper-class African Americans.
It had great recurring jokes, such as Jazz being (literally) thrown out of the house after he makes a smart comment.
It was more realistic than other family sitcoms in its time such as ‘Family Matters,’ ‘Full House’ and ‘Step by Step’.
It launched Will Smith’s acting career.
Philip Banks was ranked #34 in TV Guide's list of the ‘50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time’ (2004).
