Military Personnel
    (December 17, 1905-April 1, 2002)
    Born in Rautjarvi, Finland
Fought in the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union (1939-1940)
Awarded the Cross of Liberty, Medal of Liberty and the Cross of Kollaa Battle
    He stood just 5'3.
Maybe he suffered from Short Man's Complex?
He felt no regret over those he killed, declaring, 'I did what I was told to as well as I could.'
The Russian government mounted entire missions to hunt him down.
Nicknamed 'White Death' due to his all-white camouflage and work in 20 to 40 below zero temperatures, he racked up over 500 kills of Russian soldiers (and over 800 unofficial), making him the deadliest sniper ever.
A few of his wily tactics included preference for iron scope to narrow down his intended target and pack snow in his mouth so his breath vapor would not reveal his position.
Fellow soldiers discovered him with 'half his head was missing' and clinging to life.
He made a full recovery, albeit with a ravaged face.
He retired to a fishing village to work as a moose hunter and dog breeder.
    Simply put...he was badass!
