Actor

The Resume

    (March 12, 1950- )
Best known as Timmy Martin in the TV series 'Lassie' - aka 'Timmy and Lassie' (1957-64)
Acted in 'So Big (1953),' 'Back from Eternity (1956),' 'Toward the Unknown (1956),' 'Escapade in Japan (1957),' 'All Mine to Give (1957),' 'This Property Is Condemned (1966),' 'The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969)' and 'The Secret of the Sacred Forest (1970)'
Received the Youth In Film Association's 'Lifetime Achievement Award' for continuing efforts with the Easter Seals Telethon and the Citizens Advisory Committee to the American Police Hall of Fame (1990)

Why he might be annoying:

He played himself (with his named spelled wrong) in the episode 'John Provost Meets Mr. Ed' (1965).
He quit Hollywood in 1970 because he was sick of being called 'Timmy' wherever he went, but this doesn't stop him from shilling signed autographs of himself with Lassie on his website for $15 a pop.
He met his first wife when he backed his car into hers.
He divorced her after having two kids (1979-93).
Out of the blue he agreed to act in 'The New Lassie' TV series (1991).
He is working on his autobiography with a working title of 'Timmy in the Well.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was hand picked for the role of Timmy by the Lassie producer solely from his work in the film 'So Big' at the age of 3 (and never tested for it).
He graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in psychology and worked in the field of special education before switching to real estate.
He gives his time to charities, including children's hospitals, humane societies and the Canine Companions for Independence.
The Motion Picture Council award him the Outstanding Contribution as a Humanitarian for his dedication in helping the physically challenged (1986).
He won a Genesis Award for Outstanding Television in a Family Series for a script he wrote concerning the inhumane treatment of research animals (1991).
He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1994).
His checkered shirt and jeans he wore as Timmy hangs in The Smithsonian next to Archie Bunker's chair.
He's not screwed-up like so many other child stars have become.
