    (August 28, 1913-December 2, 1995)
Birth name was William Robertson Davies
Wrote 'Tempest-Tost (1951),' 'Fifth Business (1970),' 'The Manticore (1972),' 'World of Wonders (1975),' 'The Cornish Trilogy (1981, 1985, 1988),' 'High Spirits (1982),' 'Murther and Walking Spirits (1991)' and 'The Cunning Man (1995)'
    He was pretentious.
Although Canadian, he spoke with a fake English accent.
He looked like something out of 'The Lord of the Rings.'
He wore outlandish clothing and enormous hats.
He was sometimes accused of elitism and misogyny.
When he died, one critic called him: 'an old white writer, yet another mediocre and ponderous symbolist' (ouch).
He grew up rich and got his start in publishing when his father gave him a newspaper to edit.
He was bullied a lot as a child.
He had a sharp sense of humor.
He could make fun of himself.
He was modest about his own talents.
    He found everyday things fascinating.
He is considered a Canadian literary icon.
