Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He was left off the playoff roster during the Mets pennant run, which cost him a chance of earning a ring (1986).
He struggled considerably when the Reds opted to convert him into a starting pitcher.
His tenure with the Blue Jays was considered a major disappointment.
He was only claimed off waivers by the Padres, as they wanted to prevent the Braves from adding him as a bullpen reinforcement during the 1998 pennant race.
The transaction proved to be costly for the Padres, as he had two years and $12 million in salary to pay him, although he would go on to sit out the 1999 and 2000 seasons due to career ending surgeries.

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite not being on the 1986 Mets playoff roster, he finally received a World Series ring nine years later.
He, along with Norm Charlton and Rob Dibble formed the 'Nasty Boys' bullpen trio during the early 1990's.
He clotheslined and subdued a deranged fan, who tried to attack him after he surrendered a home run (1995).
He volunteered his time coaching the women's basketball team at his alma mater, Clark Community College during his playing career.
He successfully organized a fundraising drive to help revive the Clark baseball program, which suspended operations in 1992 and didn't return to play until 2011, largely in part to his contributions.
