Why he might be annoying:

    In his youth, he joined a violent pro-fascist organization, La Cagoule.
    After the German occupation of France, he wrote propaganda for Nazi newspapers, such as 'The Jews, their race is tainted with Jesus' blood for all eternity.'
    Under his leadership, L'Oreal joined in an Arab boycott of Israel.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He joined the French resistance (1942) and received the Croix de Guerre for his actions.
    He apologized for the articles.
    He resigned from the board of L'Oreal after his past was publicized (1994).
