Why he might be annoying:

His first at bat in the Major Leagues was in 1964, but he did not get his first hit until 1969 (0 for 1 - 1964, 0 for 5, 1968).
He is known for tearing out bases and throwing them while fighting with umpires.
He may have broken more water fountains in disgust than any other human.
As the Cincinnati Reds manager, he got into a fist fight with his relief pitcher, Ron Dibble.
He has a fiery personality and is known for his tantrums as both a player and manager.
He was General Manager and sportscaster for the Yankees (1989).
He is often criticized for not developing young pitchers and being primarily interested in hitting.
As a manager he will embarass his players in public if they don't do what he thinks they should do.

Why he might not be annoying:

His Seattle Mariners won the AL season record 116 games (2001).
During the infamous Yankee-Red Sox single game playoff in which Bucky Dent hit the home run, he made a sparkling play that may have saved the game. He was blinded by the sun, stuck out his glove where he figured the ball would bounce, caught it and held the runners from scoring.
As an incentive to his team the Devil Rays, he promised to dye his hair any color but purple if they won three games in a row. They did and he did (see picture - July 2003).
