Why he might be annoying
He is a major contributor to the Democratic party.
However, when he tried to be a peace maker during the New York Democratic mayoralty run, and kept hitting walls, he switched loyalties and backed Republican Michael Bloomberg, the eventual winner.
Roger Daltry of the Who is happy for his success because he was a lousy rock promoter.
He was working on a $150 million project to turn the Brooklyn Navy Yard into a film lot. However, he lost that contract.
He is known for his temper tantrums and screaming matches.
Why he might not be annoying
He named his film company for his mother Mira and father Max.
He started out as a publicity agent for the Who.
He sold his 9 room Manhattan apartment for $3,600,000 to Sharon Stone.
He donated $50,000 to preserve open spaces in Westport Connecticut.
He received an award from GLAAD for producing films that have gay themes (1998).
He created and produced the Paul McCartney concert for New York City (November 24, 2001). The concert raised $30 million for the victims of the September 11 disaster.
He knows of his popularity and equal hatred, when writer David Carr suggested an article about him he said: 'You'll get fifteen people to say I'm a genius and fifteen people to say I'm an asshole. What's the value of that?'
But weeks later after the concert for the victims of September 11, he left Carr a message: 'I am not an asshole.'
Miramax usually turns out more films annually than any other movie company.
Carr wrote 'Weinstein pleads guilty to being a son of a bitch but says he's in recovery.'
