    Co-founder of the sci-fi/horror comics anthology 'Metal Hurlant' ('Heavy Metal,' 1974)
    Created the Western comic 'Blueberry' and the sci-fi/fantasy comics 'Arzach,' 'The Airtight Garage of Jerry Cornelius' and 'L'Incal'
    Did the art for Stan Lee's 'Silver Surfer: Parable' (1988-89)
    Contributed storyboards and concept designs to the films 'Aliens' (1979), 'Heavy Metal' (1981), 'Tron' (1982), 'Willow' (1988), 'The Abyss' (1989) and 'Space Jam' (1996)
    He released comics under his real name and the pen names Moebius and Gir.
    He said, 'I thought it might be fun to commit an act of aggression towards the world by taking on a pseudonym.'
    He was obsessed with crystals.
    He and collaborator Alejandro Jodorowsky unsuccessfully sued director Luc Besson, claiming that their catroon 'L'Incal' inspired Besson's film 'The Fifth Element.'
    He mastered a range of styles, from the realistic to the fantastic.
    He underwent cataract surgery on his left eye.
    Ridley Scott said about his influence on science fiction, 'You see it everywhere. It runs through so much, you can't get away from it.'
    Federico Fellini said, 'I consider him a great artist, as great as Picasso and Matisse.'
