Why she might be annoying
She had an affair with her physician.
She wrote that fascism was the inevitable 'wave of the future.'
She called Hitler 'a very great man, like an inspired religious leader.'
Her mother publicly criticized her and Charles' pre-WWII isolationism.
Why she might not be annoying
She was the first woman to receive the Hubbard Medal from the National Geographic Society, for exploring 40,000 miles of air routes on five continents.
Her son was kidnapped and killed (1932).
Even after the kidnapping, Charles would get angry with her if she displayed emotion.
