He won his first rodeo awards when he was 10.
At 16, he won a national bull riding championship.
Between 1981 and 1989, he was either a state or national champion, or had won a very large event.
He won the 1987 Pendleton Roundup Bullriding event with a broken collarbone.
He was a top ten finisher the last five years of his life.
He won a bronze medal and helped lead the U.S. team to gold at the only Olympic rodeo.
He organized a tribute event to a friend who died of cancer. It still goes on.
He was killed after successfully riding a bull named 'Taking Care of Business.'
He was the first and only cowboy to ride Red Rock.
The number '2' was retired in his honor.
Garth Brooks wrote a tribute song for him.
