His birth name is Juan, but he legally changed it to Jon, possibly for commercial appeal.
Although he made a successful album in 1992, he disappeared during the late 90's Latin invasion.

His family applied to move from Cuba when he was nine; when caught, the family had to work at a work camp for 18 months as punishment.
They finally left Cuba later to run a coffee shop in Miami Beach.
He has a Masters Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami.
He worked as a teacher.
He has written songs for Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez.
He earned two Grammy Awards for Best Latin Pop Album and Best Latin Pop Performance.
