    Best Actor Tony Award winner for 'Command Decision' (1947/48)
    He was a child actor.
    He spent 25 months in San Quentin prison for beating his first wife's ex-lover to death.
    His wife was also imprisoned.
    He had to split his Tony Award honor as co-winner with Basil Rathbone in 'The Heiress' and Henry Fonda in 'Mister Roberts.'
    After serving his prison sentence he went on to a long career in film and stage.
    His second wife was killed in a traffic accident.
    He was credited with the screenplay of a film he starred in when he was 15.
    Competition was so strong the year he won his Tony that Marlon Brando wasn't nominated for 'A Streetcar Named Desire.'
