    He had a dislike for Houston Oilers offensive lineman Morris Towns.
    It took him four years to appear in a playoffs for the first time.
    Despite being one of the Seahawks' most notable defensive players, he ended his career with the 49ers.
    His three daughters' names all start with the letter J (Janelle, Jessica and Jillian).
    He won All-American honors while attending Texas A&M.
    He set Texas A&M career records for sacks with 38 and force fumbles with 12.
    He was part of the great defensive line that helped the Seahawks to reach the playoffs four times in the 1980s (1983-84, 1987-88).
    He retired with 97.5 sacks (116 as sacks began to count as a statistic in the 1982 season) in which he ended at a higher ranking for most career sacks with Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor.
    He was the first defensive end to be inducted into the Seahawks' Ring of Honor (1995).
    He is the namesake of the Jacob Green Golf Tournament that he hosts every summer in Washington state around the Puget Sound area.
