Why he might be annoying:

He felt guilty about taking up racing against his parents’ wishes.
He hated the attention that came with winning races and was visibly uncomfortable talking with the press.
    He chewed his fingernails.
Due to changes in the layout of the track at Hockenheim, the memorial to him had to be moved from the actual crash site (which is now located in a heavily wooded area).

Why he might not be annoying:

He was known for his ability to get the maximum out of any car he drove and the seeming effortlessness of his driving.
Jackie Stewart said, ‘He was so smooth, he was so clean, he drove with such finesse. He never bullied a racing car, he sort of caressed it into doing the things he wanted it to do.’
He is the only driver to win the Indy 500 and the F1 Championship in the same year.
He was named the all-time greatest Formula One driver by the Times of London (2009).
