Drag Queen
    (April 24, 1955- )
    Born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi
    Birth name was John Epperson
Stage shows include 'The Fabulous Lypsinka Show,' 'I Could Go On Lip-Synching,' 'Now It Can Be Lip-Synched,' 'As I Lay Lyp-Synching,' 'The Boxed Set' and 'The Passion of the Crawford'
    Frequent performer at Wigstock
Appeared in the films 'Vampire's Kiss' (1988), 'Kinsey' (2004), 'Another Gay Movie' (2006), 'Another Gay Sequel: Gays Gone Wild!' (2008) and 'Black Swan' (2010)
His stage name reflects the fact that he lip-synchs to excerpts from movies and records.
When he provided commentary for the DVD of 'Mommie Dearest,' his name was misspelled as 'Lipsynka' in the credits.
He does not like being called a drag queen. ('It's so limiting.') Or a female impersonator. ('That sounds too clinical.') Or actor. ('I'm also a writer. So I can't say I'm just an actor.') Or performance artist. ('That sounds so non-profit.')
He tried billing himself as a 'Post-Modern Male Actress.'
Growing up, he had to teach himself to be less effeminate to avoid being 'teased, taunted and physically threatened' in school.
Before becoming a drag performer, he was a pianist for the American Ballet Theater.
He chose his stage name partly in homage to European models with one name, such as Dovima and Veruschka.
The Washington Post wrote, 'The fabulousness of Lypsinka has been established so definitively that it could be cited in case law.'
