TV Personality

The Resume

    (March 14, 1984- )
    Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
    Actor and chef
Appeared in the films ‘Daddy’s Boy’ (2016) and ‘The Pretenders’ (2018)
Partner in the Village Den restaurant in the West Village, New York City
Published the cookbook ‘Antonio in the Kitchen’ (2019)
Food and wine expert on the Netflix reboot of ‘Queer Eye’

Why he might be annoying:

He considered changing his last name to ‘Porter’ or ‘Portman’ in hopes of getting more acting gigs.
He was uncomfortable about being cast in ‘Queer Eye’ because he doesn’t consider himself traditionally gay (or straight or bisexual, for that matter).
He described himself as ‘pathologically codependent.’
He and ‘Queer Eye’ grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness trolled the internet by setting up a joint Instagram account and pretending to be a couple.
The simplicity of some of his dishes on ‘Queer Eye’ (such as grilled cheese or hot dogs) resulted in some viewers questioning his cooking abilities.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is fluent in English, French, and Polish.
He lives in the same neighborhood as Ted Allen, the food expert from the original Queer Eye, and for a time worked for Allen as a personal chef.
He said, ‘My emotional vulnerability is something I felt like was a weakness growing up — you don’t feel like boys are supposed to cry. … What I realized is that … it’s an asset and it’s part of me and I should start embracing that.’
’Queer Eye’ producer David Collins said, ‘He’s got that adorable face and you just want to squeeze his little head off.’
One defender of his culinary talents pointed out, ‘The dude is working with clients whose idea of a fancy cocktail is a ‘redneck Margarita’ consisting of whiskey and Mountain Dew.’
He showed a sense of humor about the criticism, joking on Twitter that ‘avocado’ is ‘the only food word that I actually know.’
