Football Player
He shares his name with a hockey player.
He never was a member of a Super Bowl winning team.
He spent a good portion of his career on mediocre teams.
He had a gap between his two front teeth.
He was traded to the Redskins for five players in what would later become a lopsided trade in Washington's favor.
He played in twelve consecutive Pro Bowls.
He was considered one of the best strong safeties during the 1970's.
Despite the fact that the Redskins gave up five players to acquire him, he said George Allen didn't guarantee him a spot with the team, but made him earn it.
His greatest strength as a strong safety was his ability to read offenses and know exactly where to be on the field at the right moment.
He was initially offered a scholarship at Bishop's College, which was withdrawn due to the fact the school hadn't been desegregated at the time.
