The Resume

    (August 26, 1921-January 20, 2018)
    Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Final inspiration for the We Can Do It poster (2016)
Member of ‘The Three Sisters,’ with sisters Althea and Ada Wyn

Why she might be annoying:

Though such a claim was made by many before her, she didn’t think she was the inspiration for the iconic Rosie the Riveter artwork.
She moved across the country through her youth; during the Pearl Harbor attack, the family was in Alameda, California.
Her first marriage ended in divorce, while she was widowed twice after.

Why she might not be annoying:

While attending an event at the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Homefront National Historical Park, she saw a 1942 snapshot of her taken at a Pratt & Whitney turret lathe (shown as the profile image) and was surprised that the caption identified the woman as Geraldine Doyle.
She wrote a letter to the Park correcting the mistake, clearing up the decades-old mystery about the Riveter’s identity (2011).
    She had only one child.
She went on to become an ordained minister.
Though she lived to officially be credited as the Riveter, she managed to live in relative anonymity (‘I didn’t want fame or fortune… but I did want my own identity’).
