Entrepreneur

The Resume

    (1957- )
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
CEO of New Breed Logistics (1983-2014) and XPO Logistics (2014-15)
United States Postmaster General (Assumed office June 16, 2020)

Why he might be annoying:

When he headed New Breed, the company paid over $1.7 million in fines for violating labor laws.
When he was named Postmaster General, he still held an $30 million equity stake in XPO, a United States Postal Service contractor, leading to conflict of interest accusations.
He decided that an election year expected to produce a record number of mail-in ballots (thanks to the COVID-19 epidemic) would be the perfect time to ban employee overtime, cut hours at post offices, eliminate extra mail delivery trips, remove mail collection boxes from the streets, and dismantle high-speed mail sorting machines at postal facilities.
In a change of existing policy, he told state officials that election-related materials will not be treated as first class mail if the states pay for bulk mail rates.
Conservative pundit William Kristol wrote, ‘For vote by mail, this seems like putting a fox in charge of the henhouse,’

Why he might not be annoying:

He took control of his father’s trucking company when it was on the brink of financial collapse and transformed it into a logistics company that he sold to XPO for $615 million.
After acknowledging delays in mail delivery, he said they were ‘unintended consequences’ of changes intended to improve service (August 13, 2020).
He announced that USPS would suspend cost-cutting and operational changes until after the 2020 election (August 18, 2020).
He said he would appear in a public service announcement assuring Americans that voting by mail is safe, directly contradicting Donald Trump's claims about it being rife with fraud.
