    He was typecast as military personnel.
    His voiceover work included the cassettes for self-guided tours of Graceland and Burger King's Angry Whopper commercials.
    He charged $20 to sign items sent by fans.
    Because of the family's poverty, after his father died when Lance was four, he had to live in an orphanage until his mother remarried.
    He got his start as Elvis Presley's stunt double and appeared on stage with Elvis during the King's '68 comeback special.
    He received a London Drama Critics Award as best actor for portraying Iago in 'Catch My Soul.' (1969)
    He had a memorable voice, described by producer Glen Larson as 'four octaves lower than God's.'
