Why The National Geographic Society might be annoying
Their logo is a yellow rectangular frame.
It kept the size of their magazine the same while jacking up the number of pages of advertising.
They have gotten increasingly preachy about the environment over the years.
Their photographers have sometimes asked subjects to change clothing when they looked 'too drab' for the magazine.
Their magazine electronically manipulates photos, including darkening the skin of topless Polynesian women for one picture.
According to the 'Journal of Irreproducible Results,' the US is eventually going to sink beneath the weight of accumulated National Geographics because no one ever throws them out.
Why The National Geographic Society might not be annoying
They have financed hundreds of explorers and scientists, from Robert Peary at the North Pole to Robert Ballard on the ocean floor to Jane Goodall amid the chimps of Africa.
Their magazine is known for its outstanding photography.
National Geographic has also won multiple National Magazine Awards for its written content.
Their maps have such a reputation for accuracy that they were consulted by FDR and Churchill during WWII.
Its headquarters in DC were one of the first buildings to receive green certification from Global Green (2004).
Pics of topless natives in National Geographic may not have been as exciting as finding your older brother's secret porn stash, but they'd do in a pinch.
