Baseball Player

The Resume

    (January 5, 1961- )
    Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies (1984-88), Atlanta Braves (1989) and the Texas Rangers (1990-93)
Manager for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2008-10)

Why he might be annoying:

He was primarily used as a reserve player during his career.
He named two of his three sons, Steel and Stone.
His record as Pirates manager was a paltry 186-299 over three seasons.
His teams gradually regressed, going from 95 to 99 to 105 losses during that timespan.
He was notorious for using players outside their natural positions.
As a third base coach, he frequently waved players home and as a result, his teams led the league in home plate outs.
He was considered one of the least popular managers in the history of the Pirates franchise.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is best known for catching Nolan Ryan's sixth career no-hitter (1990).
He guided the Minnesota Twins farm team in Edmonton to the Pacific Coast League championship (2002).
He was considered one of the top minor league managerial prospects by baseball pundits.
He was considered a player's manager who excelled with working with younger players.
Some baseball pundits feel his lack of success in Pittsburgh was a result of the team's never ending decimation of their roster at the major league level.
