    He married his cousin.
    He and his wife separated after several incidents of domestic violence.
    He had a nervous breakdown (2002).
    His father said of his behavior, ‘He would become angry and he shouted…. He would break anything he saw in front of him.'
    He was fired from a job as a delivery truck driver after falling asleep at the wheel of his vehicle (January, 2016).
    He received a six-month suspended sentence for having attacked a motorist with a wooden pallet after a traffic accident (March, 2016).
    In the weeks before the attack, he obsessively searched the internet for jihadist propaganda, notably ISIL beheadings.
    He also conducted a lot of research on Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen.
    A few hours before the attack, he sent his brother pictures of himself laughing among the holiday crowd.
    Ironically, 30 of the people he killed were fellow Muslims.
    Until a few months before the attack, he had not been particularly religious: he almost never attended mosque and had never observed Ramadan.
    He serves as a warning for how fast a person can become radicalized.
    He was fatally shot by French police.
