    He is divorced.
    He named his band 'The Payolas' after the scandal in the 1960's.
    As a result, most American radio stations refused to acknowledge his band's name, opting to say his name instead.
    He sported a shag haircut in the 1980's.
    He bears a resemblance to The Cure frontman Robert Smith.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He co-wrote the 1985 charity single 'Tears Are Not Enough' to raise money for African famine relief, which was Canada's version of 'We Are The World'.
    He wrote most of his own materials.
    In addition to his work with singing and songwriting, he also works as a record producer.
    His collaborations with Bob Rock have been considered some of the best amongst Canadian music insiders.
