Unlike his former on screen partner Randolph Mantooth, he did not age well at all.
He abandoned Law School in favor of acting.
Like Randolph Mantooth, he did not have much success at acting after 'Emergency!' went off the air, and mainly has been given bit parts in movies and guest spots on TV.

Why he might not be annoying:

Along with his on screen partner, Randolph Mantooth, he introduced Paramedics to the public.
During filming of the first season of 'Emergency!' he threw out his back and had to wear a brace for the next 6 weeks of filming.
He served for two years in the Army.
