Why he might be annoying:

Trailing the The New York Yankees 4-3, in the top of the ninth inning, with two outs and a runner on, he hit a two run homer to take the lead. Yankee manager Billy Martin protested that the bat was illegal because it exceeded the legal length of pine tar (18 inches). Umpires upheld the protest, called Brett out and Brett went into a rage. He charged for the umpires but was restrained by his manager (July 24, 1983).
Because of hemorrhoids he did not participate in much of the 1980 World Series, causing the Royals to lose and lead the Phillies only World Series championship.

Why he might not be annoying:

AL President Lee MacPhail upheld KC's protest and ruled Brett's pine tar home run legal. The game resumed with KC leading 5-4, and two outs in the top of the ninth, and the Royals won (August 18, 1983).
He is the only player to win batting titles in three different decades.
His .390 season batting average in 1980 is the best in the majors since Ted Williams hit .406 in 1941.
He batted left-handed.
He is involved in charities set up to battle Lou Gehrig's Disease.
