The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He launched his art gallery using money from his father, a wealthy banker.
He had a Rolls Royce chauffeur him the hundred yards (or so) from his apartment to his gallery.
He was busted on drug possession charges with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards when police raided Richards’ home (February 12, 1967).
He sponsored the exhibition by Yoko Ono where she first met John Lennon, arguably making him indirectly responsible for breaking up the Beatles.
He lost interest in running the art gallery as his heroin addiction worsened, and he closed it in 1969.
A colleague summed up his business sense: ‘If he made £1,000 on Monday, he would spend £1,000 Monday night. If he lost £1,000 on Tuesday, he would still spend £1,000 on Tuesday night.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a trendsetter of ‘Swinging London,’ with Paul McCartney calling him ‘one of the most influential people of the London Sixties scene.’
He convinced the Beatles to hire Peter Blake to design the cover for ‘Sgt. Pepper’ and Richard Hamilton to design the cover for ‘The Beatles.’
He also gave McCartney a painting of an apple by Rene Magritte that inspired the name and logo for the Beatles’ record label, Apple Records.
He loyally told the courts that neither Jagger nor Richards had any drugs on them and that everything found by the police was his, contributing to the two Stones’ acquittal on appeal.
He opened a new gallery in 1981 and introduced the works of Keith Haring and Jean-Michael Basquiat to Britain.
