The Resume

    (October 29, 2009-December 9, 2015)
Originally aired on FOX (and later FXX)
    Mark Duplass as Peter
Steve Rannazzisi as Kevin ('The Commissioner')
    Nick Kroll as Rodney
    Paul Scheer as Andre
    Jon Lajoie as Taco
Katie Aselton as Jenny (Kevin's Wife)
Created by Jeff and Jackie Schaffer
Premise: Focuses on the everyday lives of an eclectic group of fantasy football league players, and their competitive misadventures together

Why The League might be annoying:

If you're not into Fantasy Football, entire plotlines can go over your head completely.
It relied heavily on 'bathroom humor' and crotch jokes.
For example, the very first episode introduced the Kevin character talking on the phone while sitting on a toilet seat.
Because episodes were very 'story-driven,' it was difficult to follow for anyone who began watching the show 'mid-way.'
An episode in which Kevin has sex with his wife in her sleep stirred controversy among viewers who asserted it 'made a joke of marital rape' (even though it was later revealed that Jenny was conscious at the time).
The main characters ran across more big-name NFLers over the course of the show than would ever have been likely in real life (and were usually remarkably calm around said-celebrities).
The line delivery for many of the NFL players guest starring on the show could come off as extremely 'wooden.'
Amy Schumer was accused of plagiarizing a bit on the show's final season about a work-place fantasy league, or a 'Fantasy Life League.'
The final season was overshadowed by the fall-out over a New York Times expose of a story Steve Rannazzisi had told years earlier about avoiding death during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Why The League might not be annoying:

Much of the comedy on the show is improvisational.
Seth Rogen had a semi-recurring role as a mentally ill librarian pornographer 'Dirty Randy' in some of the later seasons.
Katie Aselton plays Kevin's wife on the show, but is married to Mark Duplass in real life.
The characters' madcap antics were wildly funny to watch (e.g. competing to see who could get through airport security the fastest and placing bets on it).
Several of the show's catchphrases have become a part of regular sports lingo (shiva blasts, the Sacko Bowl, vinegar strokes, etc.).
NFL greats Terry Bradshaw, Terrell Suggs, RG3, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Deion Sanders, Adrian Peterson, Vernon Davis, Jim McMahon, and Marshawn Lynch all made guest appearances.
Blair Walsh also made a guest appearance during the final season, mere months before his humiliating 'field goal miss' which would effectively end his NFL career.
Their sixth season was originally slated to be their last, but its popularity with fans resulted in it being renewed for one more season.
Post-series finale, 'League' fans have been known to complain about missing the show as a dual companion with the regular football season.
Steve Rannazzisi told Howard Stern that the cast's supportive loyalty to him during the fallout over the '9/11 story' was one of the main things that helped him get through the difficult period.
