    Born in Cincinatti, Ohio
    American swimmer
    Won gold medals at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Summer OIympics.
    Two time gold medal world champion (1994, 1998)
    His maternal grandfather was Charles Keating Jr., infamously known for the Savings and Loan scandals of the 1980's.
    He is well known for his "pro-wrestling like" antics before a competition; frequently strutting onto the pool deck in boxing shorts and robe, shadow boxing and flexing for the audience.
    He was suspended by FINA for marijuana use.
    He owns three of the top 10 all-time performances in the 50 meter freestyle.
    His father, Gary, Sr., was also a swimmer.
    He and his father founded The Race Club, a training facility to assists the world's most prestigious swimmers.
    He and Alexander Popov have a rivalry that is fun to watch.
