    Became first black governor of New York in March 2008
    Graduate of Columbia University and Hofstra University of Law School
    New York State Senator (1985-2007), Lieutenant Governor of New York (2007-2008), assumed governorship in 2008
    Became governor following the resignation of Eliot Spitzer

Why he might be annoying:

    On his first day of office, he admitted to having an affair on his wife while they had marriage troubles.
    He failed the bar exam and blamed it on his vision troubles.
    He supports non-citizen voting in New York state.
    In 1999, he was arrested for civil disobedience in Manhattan.
    He was sued for racial discrimination by a white photographer whom Paterson fired and replaced with a black photographer.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He overcame a difficult disability to become the most powerful man in New York State.
    He is more beloved than Spitzer, and believes in uniting instead of dividing Albany politics.
    He is a proponent of stem-cell research.
    He completed the 1999 New York City marathon.
    A major sports fan, he often calls into sports talk shows on WFAN.
