Why she might be annoying:

She said of her first cinema experience, 'It was a flea pit and smelled. There was a woman at the piano with the light shining on her, and another woman who pumped disinfectant into the air. I thought it had the scent of sweet lavender, and that the palace - my palace - was the most wonderful place in the world.'
She stayed married to director David Lean for 9 years although she knew he was having many affairs.
She was shamelessly cast in three of his films.
Even though she adopted a child with her second husband, psychologist Elliott Jacques, she had the marriage annulled after 7 years (1949-1956).

Why she might not be annoying:

She began as a chorus dancer in several Andre Charlot revues, before performing solo in New York City and Berlin.
She got an adaptation writing credit on Lean's 1946 movie version of Dickens classic 'Great Expectations.'
She won the National Board of Review award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'The Horse's Mouth.' (1958)
Her ex-husband (the shrink, not the director) coined the term 'mid-life crisis.'
She remained on good terms with Lean (who died in 1991), stating 'I only had his best interests at heart.'
Even Lean's 6th and final wife said, 'She was terribly in love with him. Truthfully, I think he should have stayed with her.'
