Became Queen when her mother abdicated the throne to her (1980).
Abdicated in favor of her son Prince of Orange, Willem-Alexander (January 28, 2013)

Why they might be annoying:

She caused a major loss in popularity when she married Claus von Amsburg, in 1966, who was part of the nazi youth in Germany.
The vehemently anti-nazi Dutch demonstrated against the marriage but eventually accepted it.
After years of marriage, her husband grew despondent over being a Queen's consort and has been treated a number of times for depression.
She ranked #6 in 1980 on Mr. Blackwell's Worst Dress List.

Why they might not be annoying:

At two years old, along with her family, she fled to England and them Canada to escape the Nazis (1940).
She got her degree in politics from Leiden University.
Her popularity is so great that it is believed if she ran for Prime Minister of the Netherlands, she would win.
