Sports Executive
    (December 30, 1959- )
President and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (home of the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400)
Founded the Indy Racing League, a breakaway league from CART (now Champcar)
Many blame him for the decreasing popularity of open wheel racing.
His forming of the Indy Racing League led to a bitter rivalry between his league and the established CART series.
He used the Indianapolis 500 to push his new league by restricting the number of non-IRL drivers in the race.
This led to many top drivers boycotting the race.
The open-wheel split led to the weakening of both leagues and open-wheel drivers bolting to NASCAR.
He made a big deal over his stepson winning an inaugural minor league race at the track.
He owns a racing team, which may be a conflict of interest.
During a divorce hearing, he admitted to past cocaine and marijuana use.
When he formed the Indy Racing League, he promised that it would be a series that races on all oval tracks. Starting in the 2005 season they began to run some races on road and street circuits.
He formed the IRL as a response to the Indianapolis 500 becoming a more de-emphasized race in the CART circuit.
He owns the largest sporting facility in the United States and one of the oldest racetracks in the world.
His grandfather bought the track when it was in dire straits and made huge improvements to it.
He brought NASCAR and Formula One races to the Speedway.
The Indy Racing League is considered one of the most competitive open-wheel series in the world.
