Sports Executive
    (1959- )
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
Assistant coach for the Utah Jazz
General manager of the New York Knicks (1999 - 2003)
Also held other coaching and front office roles for the Jazz
He is known for a string of ill-advised moves during his tenure as Knicks general manager.
He would trade for players like Antonio McDyess and Keith Van Horn, both of whom didn't last long with the Knicks.
On the flip side, he would trade away players like Marcus Camby, who continued to perform well years after he was traded, and fan favorite Latrell Sprewell.
Most infamously, he signed Allan Houston to a six-year, $100 million dollar contract when nobody offered anything even close. Houston wouldn't even play for that long, as injuries cut his career short.
Thanks to moves like these, the Knicks would be well over the NBA's salary cap, and would continue to be for years. Not to mention that they would fall out of playoff contention for the first time in years.
By the end of his tenure, Knick fans would continuously chant 'Fire Layden.'
People don't bring him up as much as Isiah Thomas when it comes to talking about people who made the Knicks a mess.
He is widely credited with the drafting of John Stockton and Karl Malone to the Jazz.
He has a business management degree from Saint Francis University.
He finished right behind Jerry West for The Sporting News' NBA Executive of the Year (1994-1995).
