Televangelist

The Resume

    (August 9, 1921- )
    Born in Gastonia, North Carolina
    Based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Host of ‘The Ernest Angley Hour’ (national weekly) and ‘The 90 & 9 Club’ (regional daily)
Founder of Ernest Angley’s Grace Cathedral (1957)
Author of ‘Cell 15,’ ‘The Deceit of Lucifer,’ ‘Hurry Friday! (autobiography)’ and ‘Living Free from Sin’

Why he might be annoying:

He claimed that AIDS could be cured by God (Mark 9:23: ‘Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth’).
Jeez, you thought Ronald Reagan was bad with his ‘hair’?
Perhaps not surprisingly, he denounces homosexuality.
He purchased a Boeing jet (747-SP) that wound up being too big for any hangar at its home base.
To expect a televangelist to be squeaky-clean – or for that matter immune to he-said-he-said controversy – is sheer delusion.

Why he might not be annoying:

He purchased a portion of a 500-foot-or-so complex that previously belonged to Rex Humbard, another televangelist.
He pledges that all proceeds from all sales of all his literature are turned over to his outreach ministry.
When his one wife died in 1970 – without giving birth – he never remarried.
Not too many evangelists live to their 90s, let alone remain active in that bracket.
