Sang the theme song for the TV series cartoon 'The Mighty Hercules' (1963-66)
Acted in 'Take a Giant Step (1959),' 'Key Witness (1960)' and 'Vill så gärna tro (1971)'

Why he might be annoying:

He was marketed as a Johnny Mathis rival in the early '60s which hindered more than helped his career.
He was the only American actor in the 1971 Swedish film 'Vill så gärna tro.'
In the 1980's after years without any hits he quit the music business to 'spend more quality time with my family.'
He is a huge Houston Astros fan and was crushed when the Chicago White Sox swept them in the 2005 World Series.

Why he might not be annoying:

'I Can See Clearly Now' was #1 on Billboard's Singles chart for four weeks in November 1972.
His cover of Bob Marley's 'Stir It Up' help introduce Marley to a larger listening audience in the U.S.
He owns a horse ranch in his native Houston.
When asked about never winning a Grammy, he said, 'I think I've achieved gratification in terms of the people I've had the chance to meet. I never won the Grammy, but I don't put my faith in things of that nature; a lifetime body of work I can be proud of is more important to me.'
