Why he might be annoying:

    He struggled with back injuries during the 1990 NLCS, which some pundits felt cost the Pirates their chance at reaching the World Series.
    He was traded by the Pirates following a season he posted career highs in a salary dump move (1996).
    He admitted he hated playing baseball.
    He retired from playing the day after his MLB pension became fully vested.
    He complained about 'The Star Spangled Banner' being played at the ballpark, citing he would have a bad day every time the anthem would play.

    He posted his best numbers with the Pirates in the years following the departures of both Bonds and Bonilla.
    He was considered a man of character and integrity by former teammates.
