    Best known for his illustrations of American life that appeared on covers of the Saturday Evening Post
    He smoked a pipe.
    He was a choir boy.
    His middle name was Percevel.
    He dropped out of high school to go to art school.
    He suffered from depression.
    While still in his teens, he was hired as art director of Boys' Life.
    His 'Four Freedoms' paintings helped sell almost $133 million worth of bonds during WW II.
    He did over 4,000 paintings in his lifetime.
    During the 60's, many of his paintings addressed racial issues.
