The Resume

    (February 28, 1944-November 27, 1998)
    Born in Oakland, California
Recorded the single 'Love Makes A Woman' (1968)

Why she might be annoying:

She recorded unsuccessfully as Barbara Allen.
She was a one-hit wonder on the pop charts.
Actually, her song 'Am I the Same Girl' also hit the pop Top 10 -- after her vocals were erased and the record was released as the instrumental 'Soulful Strut,' credited to Young-Holt Unlimited.

Why she might not be annoying:

She worked at Brunswick Records as a receptionist, then became a songwriter.
She co-wrote the hits 'Whispers (Getting Louder)' for Jackie Wilson and 'Have You Seen Her' and 'Oh Girl' for the Chi-Lites.
After the success of 'Whispers,' Jackie Wilson convinced Brunswick to sign her as a vocalist.
