    Bassist/vocalist/harmonica for Cream, and Robin Trower and guitarist for Manfred Mann
    With Cream recorded the songs ‘White Room,' ‘Crossroads,' ‘Sunshine of Your Love,' ‘N.S.U.,' ‘I Feel Free,' ‘Strange Brew,' ‘Spoonful' and ‘Those Were the Days'
    He turned down a chance to play in Led Zeppelin.
    He was a drug addict.
    He couldn't get along with Ginger Baker, and this was one major reason for Cream's breakup.
    His song ‘S.W.L.A.B.R.' has no meaning and stands for ‘she was like a bearded rainbow.'
    He was divorced.
    He wrote most of Cream's songs with Pete Brown.
    He survived liver cancer (2003).
    He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Cream (1993).
    In addition to playing rock music, he worked with many jazz greats like John McLaughlin.
    He grew up very poor and had to quit school because he could not afford it.
